“Er Ich John” documents my acquaintance with the “creator of the Berlin World Time Clock” Erich John, and portrays the “person behind it” in an essayistic, personal and unconventional manner. As a designer and contemporary witness, he directly experienced the rise and fall of the GDR, during which he engaged in subversive activism and drew his personal lessons and conclusions from the experience. Together we have had many interesting conversations for 4 years and have come closer to each other to make, quote Erich John, “a crazy film”!
