Since 2022, I have focused on collecting plastic bags and barrier tapes in public space: everyday objects tied to consumption and (urban) transformation; material with a short usage phase and prolonged degradation period, easily carried away by the wind, and therefore major contributor to environmental plastic pollution.

I weave those findings of the anthropocene into Kilim tapestries – referring to one of the oldest cultural techniques, rooted in nomadic traditions. For this, I use portable looms in two sizes: the wooden loom from my childhood and a broken clothes rack, itself a found object from Montenegro. What begins as litter from streets, rivers, bushes, trees, and fences becomes textile, that tell stories. Early works were small kilim-inspired rugs tied to specific places – like abstract travel diaries (“keep weaving”). Later came the “transformation rag rug”, weaving barrier tapes collected across Europe into an international pattern. My current project explores traditional Serbian kilim symbols in a large, multicolored Belgrade rug (“Beogradski ćilim / Београдски Ћилим”).
